Eye Diseases & Disorders

Some eye diseases develop slowly and may not cause noticeable symptoms at first. Regular eye exams can help find changes early and give you a better understanding of your eye health.

Dr. Van provides care for common eye diseases and disorders, including glaucoma, cataracts, age-related macular degeneration, and diabetic eye disease.

Common Eye Diseases & Disorders

Glaucoma

Glaucoma can damage the optic nerve, which carries information from your eye to your brain. It often develops without noticeable symptoms at first, so regular eye exams are important for detecting changes.

Cataracts

Cataracts happen when the clear lens inside your eye becomes cloudy. They can cause blurry vision, glare, faded colors, and difficulty seeing at night. Dr. Van can evaluate cataracts and provide co-management with an eye surgeon when surgery is needed.

Age-Related Macular Degeneration

Age-related macular degeneration, or AMD, affects the macula, the part of the retina responsible for sharp central vision. It can make reading, recognizing faces, or seeing fine details more difficult.

Diabetic Eye Disease

Diabetes can damage the blood vessels in the retina and lead to diabetic eye disease. Changes may occur before you notice problems with your vision, which is why regular eye exams are important if you have diabetes.

Regular Eye Care Matters

Some eye diseases do not cause noticeable symptoms until vision has already been affected. Regular eye exams give Dr. Van an opportunity to check for changes and help you understand your eye health.

If you notice changes in your vision or have a condition that may affect your eyes, schedule an eye exam with Dr. Van in Loveland.
